We Have a Dog in this Race

Max Duffield Mayor

ORS/The Exchange is sponsoring a candidate in this year’s race for Mayor of Eastsound. You may have already met Max at The Exchange or the dog park where he greets everyone. He is likely the only standard wire-haired dachshund on Orcas Island.

The annual Mayoral race is organized by Orcas Island Children’s House (OICH) as their major fundraiser. With a mission “to provide dynamic play-based curriculum that prepares children 1-6 for kindergarten and life”, every dollar contributed is counted as a “vote” and helps OICH toward their goal of raising operating funds for the year.

The campaign kicked off with the Kaleidoscope Pet Parade on May 25th, and culminates with the 4th of July parade on the 6th of July. Watch for posters and voting boxes at The Exchange and other businesses on Orcas Island, and cast your votes supporting Max for Mayor. Votes cast for Max at The Exchange will be matched by his PACk. Follow Max’s take on the election through his Facebook account and his Instagram account (@MaxDuffMayor). Go to oich.org to see how the race is going!

To thank ORS/The Exchange for their sponsorship, Max is treating all shoppers at The Exchange to free hot dogs and lemonade on Saturday the 29th of June from 11 AM to 2 PM. Max will be there to greet you and share his viewpoint on “the long and the low” of the race for Mayor. Max believes that “a stranger is just a friend he has not met yet” and his motto is “Wag more…and more…and more.
