Saturday, April 20, 2019 will be our next Great Islands Clean Up event from 10am to 2pm. Be sure to SAVE THE DATE!

Bags, grabbers, safety vests and latex gloves will be available at the San Juan County Public Works office on Spring Street during the week before the event, and on the other islands the day of the event. 139+ volunteers  covered

59.25 miles of road, 11.5 miles of beach,

Collected over 1,800 pounds of litter on Lopez, San Juan, and Orcas Island.

Lopez Island

  • 55 volunteers
  • 519 pounds of litter (with 109 pounds diverted to recycling)
  • 18 miles of roads
  • 6.5 miles of beach

Orcas Island

  • 54 volunteers
  • 925 pounds of litter
  • 16.25 miles of roads (both sides)
  • 2 miles of beach

San Juan Island

  • ~30 volunteers
  • 360 pounds of litter (including a rubber snake)
  • ~25 miles of roads
  • ~3 miles of beach
